  1. File Requests and recognized Fidonet Standards

  3. There are two "MAGIC" file names that are universally recognized
  4. in Fidonet.  These are as follows:
  5.  
  6. FILES - If another system requests "FILES" from your system.
  7.         They should recieve a list of files that are available
  8.         via request from your system.
  9.  
  10. ABOUT - If another system requests "ABOUT" from your system.
  11.         They should receive a small text file telling about
  12.         you system.  Information about hours of operation,
  13.         supported baud rates, and any special interests your
  14.         system supports would be appropriate.

  17. One small note of etiquette here.  It's wiser not to request too often or
  18. too much, of one system.  Remember, there are many of us here in this Net
  19. and it's just good measure to make sure you are not using MORE than your
  20. fair share of transfer time.
